My collaboration with bestselling novelist Edwardo Bracegirdle (author of Monitor My Heart, Executive Cobra and Lizard Lips). Here’s my cover design for his new novel “The Cold-Blooded Seducer”. This is Bracegirdle’s 284th novel which tells the story of villanous iguana Horatio, a professional model and gigolo with a passion for murder.

Here’s a poster I’ve done for next month’s excellent comedy gig: An Event of Some Kind.
It features a ninja using his panda in an irresponsible fashion – as they do.
Come along to the The Black Heart in Camden on Sunday 2nd October to see the show.

Well I couldn’t stand adding Mick Jagger to the Pets Of Yore without adding everyone’s favourite crusty zombie legend Keith Richards. Thanks to the magnificent Kate Webster for thinking up this pun. It may not be the prettiest of puns but if ever a man was made to be depicted as an aardvark, it was Mr Richards. (click image to enlarge)
See the complete Pets of Yore collection here.

If you’re new to my site you should definitely check out Chicken vs Duck by H Anthony Hildebrand and myself. It’s a short comic series featuring some very funny poultry and their immortal battle. Today there’s a brand new edition! You can see the new one HERE.

With everything that’s been happening this week I forgot to post the latest Pets Of Yore. A long time ago my brother won a drawing competition for drawing a leopard with human eyes. It was amazing and I’ve long felt the need to stick human features on a big cat of my own. Dedicated to Matt -here’s Mick Jaguar.
Anyone who can think of a good Keith Richards/animal pun will automatically have their pun made into a picture and will be officially crowned as being awesome beyond normal human limitations. Twitter or Facebook me. H Anthony Hildebrand has told me that my pathetic “Keith Pilchards” is an affront to all puns and although I love his suggestion of Beef Richards, it’s a meat product, not a pet.
Also had a go at a bit of topical animation and made this short -Riot Nana. Featuring music from the excellent Junior Ministers.

Chicken and Duck are back! You can see the new episode HERE:
I’ve been finding it hard to get my head round what has been happening in England in the last few days and have been drawing pretty much solidly around the clock. I’ve been so sad that the UK has been turned into such an ugly place, my reaction is to try to cheer it up with stupid pictures. The drawing’s been therapeutic however the crippling hand cramps are not good – you have to suffer for your art, even if it is whimsical in nature.
You can see some more of my pictorial responses to acts of violence and aggression that I’m not really able to comprehend HERE. Here’s my favourite “Riot Nana”.
9th August
It’s half three in the morning and I can’t sleep from riot based worries. When worried I draw. For some reason when stressed my brain goes into zombie drawing mode. Here’s my best attempt at channelling my fear and anger at these stupid people’s actions.

Couldn’t resist adding Truman Capote to the Pets of Yore gallery. Here he is in equine form. (Click image to enlarge).
Spent the whole weekend scouring the internet for a better t-shirt supplier and finally managed to find one that I’m happy with. I’ve now got a much more flexible and better priced shop where you can buy my designs as t-shirts. Visit my shop to see the full range of Pets of Yore tshirts.

Two days of hard work, mostly spent trying to put glasses on an eels face. Here’s the result, a few new portraits for Pets of Yore featuring special guest punners. Many thanks to excellent comedians Tony Cowards for Kim Jong Il and H Anthony Hildebrand for Nell Gywn. You can follow them both on twitter for more quality puns. Gustave Coubet’s portrait also joins the ever growing number of artists in the Pets of Yore gallery.
There’s now a range of t-shirts featuring these designs HERE.
Also a new chicken vs Duck available HERE.

This weekend I was working freakishly hard on these portraits of the excellent artists Leonardo Da Vinci, Vincent Van Gogh and Andy Warhol.

Also, to ensure that Fidel Castro wasn’t the only Pets of Yore victim still living, here’s the big daddy of Buddhism The Dalai Lama. Could have drawn a llama but no, I had to go with an even more inane pun.
29th July
The end of my week has been curiously dominated with ape drawings. Here’s my take on the iconic picture of Che Guevara, from a superb pun by Simon Van Wyk.

Two new additions to Pets of Yore gallery today – Albatross Einstein and Henry the Ape (pun courtesy of H Anthony Hildebrand). You can see all of the pictures so far and compare them to the original paintings HERE.

Thanks to everyone who took part in the Pets of Yore competition. There were some superb animal / historical person puns submitted and picking the 5 winners was truly one of the most difficult decisions I’ve ever had to make ( I don’t decide very often, it was a traumatic experience). Here’s the first of the winners.
Thanks to Jackson Voorhaar for this corker. I suggest you follow him on twitter. Keep checking back here, there’s four more winners to be announced in the next few days!

Had some fantastic responses to the #petsofyore competition yesterday – including this one by @hahildebrand. I’ll be choosing the winners this evening so if you’ve got any animal/historical person puns that you would like to see transformed into a tasteful piece of art tweet me @HannahNeale with your caption and the hashtag #petsofyore , or leave a message on my Facebook page.

With the #petsofyore competition going so well I’ll be producing a series of portraits of animal historical figures. The top five entries will be turned into classy pieces of artwork -just like this one of Bismark (later also suggested by Benjamin Lole). There are some absolute cracking entries so far – keep them coming people! (competition details below)
Cute common or garden birdie or evil ornithological tyrant? You decide. (click image to enlarge)
In other news it’s competition time again! Inspired by today’s picture I’m searching for your best animal / historical person pun – for example Joan of Duck (It’s naff but that’s the best I could come up with after I used up all my punning juices on Joseph Starling.) If you’ve got a good idea, tweet me @HannahNeale with your caption and the hashtag #petsofyore , or leave a message on my Facebook page.
I’ll announce the winner on Thursday and I’ll attempt to turn the winner’s idea into a piece of art.

During the weekend I ate my weight in biscuits and drew a lot. In a sugar fuelled, cookie coma/art spree I felt compelled to make this. (click thumbnail to enlarge)

I was overjoyed by the responses to yesterday’s sheep caption competition. There were some superb entries and some beautifully odd ones too. Thanks to everyone who got involved. Spent the evening sifting through comedy nuggets with @hahildebrand, some deep debating was had. Below are a few of my favourites (apologies if yours didn’t quite make it, you’re probably an unappreciated genius). There could be only one (winner) tho and that accolade goes to …
Farmer Bramley kept his flock on their toes by only periodically plugging in the electric fence.
“Bring your daughter, bring your daughter, to the SLAAAAAUGHTER”
Steven was desperate. If only there were a technique to help cure his insomnia
Dylan Hichens @DylStreep
“Ewe talkin’ to me?!”
12th July
I’ve done this picture of a screaming sheep – as you do – and I’m now searching for a suitably amusing caption to go with it. I thought I’d open it out to your suggestions, with the the winning caption used as part of the artwork itself.
If you’ve got a good idea, tweet me @HannahNeale with your caption and the hashtag #sheepcap, or leave a message on my Facebook page.
I’ll announce the winner tomorrow.
Chicken and Duck are back with a brand new sketch. See it HERE.

I’ve done a new sketch - “racist squirrels” (Click thumbnail to enlarge). It’s the first time that I haven’t drawn poultry in two weeks. It’s hard going but the first step is to admit you have a problem.

In other news I’m beaming from yesterday’s fantastic review of a “Quest for Good Manners” from the good people at Examiner.com. You can have a read of it HERE.
